APPLICATION PROCESS AND POLICY

    

FORT MASON ARTISTS (FMA) SCHOLARSHIP 


INTRODUCTION 

Fort Mason Artists (FMA) is committed to providing the experience of art making and acquiring new skills in figurative drawing, painting and sculpting with clay to artists of every level. With our goal of reaching all students throughout the Bay Area and beyond, regardless of income level, FMA offers full and partial scholarships for those in need of financial support who meet eligibility requirements. Funding is made possible through General Funds, Grants and individual and group donations. 

Since F.M.A. is a nascent nonprofit organization, our funding for scholarships is limited and your participation as a donor is essential for its success. We encourage our supporters to donate generously as a tax deductible donation. The gift of providing art classes for those with limited incomes is priceless. 

APPLICATION PROCESS 

ELIGIBILITY and VERIFICATION    

Applicant’s household must have an income equal to or less than 250% of the current federal poverty level, as determined by the U.S. Dept. of Health and Human Services’ Federal Poverty Guidelines of the current year.
All adults over 18 years of age are eligible to apply. 

The Level of scholarship assistance is 75%, 50%, or 25%. Please specify the scholarship coverage in the application form, depending on the amount you feel comfortable paying out of pocket.
Scholarship eligibility status is valid for two years and covers tuition and model fees (not materials).

Apply today.   Download an application from our website ftmasonartists.org. Fill it out completely and submit it with supporting income documentation via email to fortmasonartists@gmail.com, or mail the application with the supporting documents to 301 Holly Park Cir. San Francisco, CA 94110.

RENEWAL 

Resubmit application and eligibility verification documents by email to fortmasonartists@gmail.com Eligibility must be established every two years.

TIMELINES 

Due date for application: 4 weeks prior to class beginning date. Applications are processed in the order of their submission date. Incomplete applications will not be processed.
Applicants will be notified no later than one week prior to the start of class.

SUPPORTING THE ARTS IN SAN FRANCISCO AND THE BAY AREA 

 

GENERAL POLICIES 

  • The scholarship covers one class at a time per period (Spring, Summer, Fall)
     
  • The scholarship covers a percentage of tuition and model fees.
     
  • The scholarship does not include materials.
     
  • Scholarship valid for 2 years after the date of acceptance of the application.
     

 

  • To renew your application, complete the FMA Scholarship Application (check the Renewal field)
     
  • Students will need to enroll in each class they wish to take.
     
  • Students on scholarship can enroll in only one concurrent class at a time.
     

o i.e students can enroll in consecutive classes per period but not concurrent classes. 

CANCELLATION POLICY 

  • Unexcused no-show on the first day of class will cancel your seat in the class.
     
  • Unexcused excessive absences (40% missed sessions of a class) will cancel your seat in the class.
     

o Example: 2 sessions of a 5 session class. 

  • If excessive absences or no-shows continue over 2 classes, then the scholarship will be canceled.
     
  • Please review the standard cancellation policy for refunds (of partial scholarships contribution).

    A: You can enroll in any class at FMA using the FMA website ftmasonartists.org.
    Q: How many classes can I enroll in?
